Where I stand
Roads should not become a contest over who complains the loudest. The City already collects asset-condition information; I want that translated into a public, understandable multi-year priority list.
I also want road work coordinated with water and sewer work where practical. Rebuilding the surface and then reopening the same corridor later is expensive and frustrating.
Preventive maintenance matters because waiting for failure can turn a manageable repair into a much more expensive project.
Current Cornwall facts
These are the factual pieces I am using as the baseline. They are separated from my opinion on purpose.
What Council actually controls
Council sets capital priorities and budgets. Administration assesses asset condition, designs projects, procures work and manages construction within the approved capital program.
What I would ask for
Condition, safety, failure risk, traffic/service importance and lifecycle cost should drive prioritization.
Check water, wastewater and utility needs before major road rehabilitation is finalized.
Good design work and cost estimates help the City act when senior-government funding becomes available.
For major projects, show schedule changes, budget variance and what caused them.
